Amp Meter vs ????

Recommended Posts

i am thinking about using the space that is normally filled with Amp Meter for something else on my GT14 I am redoing. Not sure I see much value in an Amp Meter.

Am I incorrect in my assumption?

If not, any of you have suggestion for that space? Reasons?

digital volt meter or an Hour meter or one which has both maybe
Those old amp meters shake the needle so much they are about worthless.

I have a spare Plastic GT14 gas Tank. As this project will not complete until Spring anyway as I dont think I will get the surface and body panels painted before weather turns here in NY, I am thinking that I will experiment with adding a fuel sender to the tank and adding a back-lit Fuel Gage in the spot that the Amp Meter resided. I am very surprised at the lack of such an animal as far as whats already available. An unnecessary luxury but one I would prefer over the bouncing amp meter.

Good luck finding a fuel tank sending unit that will fit the tall oddly shaped tank on the GT-14. If you find one I would love to see this posted.

:twocents-02cents: I feel that a Volt meter tells you a lot more than an amp meter.

I agree. I'll have to mod up a custom set up.

the more I think about it, the more I want to take on the challenge.

Not sure what a GT-14 tank looks like but I used something like this for my boat. They are available in different lengths

That's pretty close. Thanks for the tip. I'll measure my tank and order up some eBay parts soon.
