Man!  I've got a MUCH BIGGER NH TC35 with FEL and backhoe, box blade, landscape rack and more and a bunch of little GTs and yet for some reason I sit here and I'm very envious!  I love my little C-85 with dozer blade but I just have to have a little GT with a FEL!  I've even got a front scoop like a Johnny bucket, but I still got to have a little FEL.  Doesn't even have to be on a D.  A C-XXX or 4XX or even some off brand!  Hey, maybe I should plan on putting one on my 520 Lxi.  Rugged front axle and PS!  Maybe then I could get over this lusting!

After a long day with all 3 tractors [wheel horses] I am considering getting a 25 to 30 hp. 4X4 small utility tractor, and selling both of my loader tractors, they are fun, but don't move a lot of anything fast. The D-160 has power steering. but the 520 H steers fairly easy with a loaded bucket.

Certainly my TC35 will do FAR more work in FAR less time!  4WD really shines with a full bucket and when pushing a major load.  Sometimes I'll forget that I'm 2 wd and start to load a bucket and curl it a bit to get a bigger bite and left so much weight off the rear that I have no traction!  Quick push of a lever and I'm back in 4WD and moving a full bucket!  But there are times when I can't get into somewhere and many times I just don't need to move a tandem load but some little something.  Guess my point is I want both!  And really, I could almost justify it now.  I will justify it when the right deal comes along!  :D

Enjoy your machines but be patient with tandem loads!

While I've got you, you mentioned your 520 steering is pretty good.  That has gear reduction?  And your D has power assist?  I've got to look into that!
Otherwise how do they compare?  I'm guessing the D will outperform the 520 across the board, but maybe not by a lot.  Your experiences?

Dennis, no on the gear reduction, but it still steers good , and as for witch one is better, they both have their  plus's and minus's, the 520 is much easier to get into tight places and is easy to operate, but the D-160 is some what stronger at all ends. But the D is slower and for me not operator friendly.:twocents-02cents:

Thanks Elliot.  Without having used either but going by my gut feelings and certainly your comments, I'm leaning to the smaller 520, especially since I'd appreciate the ability to get into tight spots.  I already have the power and size.

That D is in the foreground but even considering that the bucket looks quite a bit bigger.  That so?

I have used a little Kubota FEL with BH, way smaller than my TC35 but still bigger than a WH and I loved it!  I can do a U turn in my driveway with my C-85 and blade where I have to drive a good distance to turn the TC35 around.  A lot of my projects just don't need that size, power and capacity!  But boy is it appreciated when I do!

Yes Dennis the D- bucket is 6 in. wider and much deeper and holds twice the amount. You are right on how short the turning radius on the 520 is. The D not so short. I have decided I am selling both loaders, I would like to keep the 520 tractor, I could use it for mowing and plowing snow.
