1988 516,518,520 differences

I am interested to know what the differences are between the three horses, a 516-H,518-H,520-H other than their transmission. Someone told me they adjusted the governor a certain way so the engine wouldn't give out a lot of power. Maybe you guys would know the differences. Thanks, dave

I thought they all would have the same trans but after looking at a 516H today it didn't have the hydro lift so i'm kinda curios to know what the differences are too

The 516 and 518 both have the light duty Eaton 700 hydro and manual lift. The 520 has the Eaton 1100 with hydraulic lift. If you want hydraulic lift in a 516 or 518 it involves a complete swap to an Eaton 1100.
I always thought it strange that 2 of the "big" 500 series machine were sold with the 700 tranny.

That doesn't make much since. Maybe they were trying to cut cost. heck you could buy 312H with the eaton 1100 but not a 518 crazy :happy-jumpeveryone:

In 1988 besides the transmission and obvious motor HP, the main difference is in the instrumentation and chrome. As the numbers go up so do the number of gauges, warning lights and chrome on the muffler, air filter, hubcaps etc.

Wheel and tire size increase as well through the models.
