rem722 26 #3 Posted September 12, 2015 Can you buy a new kohler k181 or similar?
Pullstart 67,011 #4 Posted September 12, 2015 look on classifieds, auctions, etc... I was creative enough to find an air compressor powered by the K181T and it went cheap because the tanks were leaking on it. But the engine runs like a top!

BESTDOGEVER 218 #6 Posted September 14, 2015 Kohler makes a 7 hp that is used on some log splitters it is or was available at tsc it is a good running engine and is ohv so it brings your tractor up to date and still uses a kohler
953 nut 60,246 #7 Posted September 14, 2015 If you are buying a used motorized component like a log splitter, chipper etc. be sure that the crank shaft is a straight cut and not tapered. Most direct drive components use a tapered shaft engine. If it is belt driven you are good to go.
