Rob.A.700 306 #1 Posted September 12, 2015 Having gotten the 800 special running I turned my attention over to my 877 and come to find out it has been re-powered with a Tecumseh model hh100 115033. I am curious about this engine I know Tecumsehs dont have the greatest reputation. Should i re-re-power or put the effort into getting this one running? SPINJIM 1,981 #2 Posted September 12, 2015 The Tecumseh HH10 and HH8 and 6 were good engines with terrible carburetors. If it has compression, it's worth rebuilding the carb. Rebuild kits are readily available. If a cleaning and rebuild doesn't work, there are some Chinese knock-offs on ebay. Some members say they work fine, and they're reasonable. Cheaper than re-powering with another engine. Good luck. Jim
pfrederi 17,580 #3 Posted September 12, 2015 The HH series were very good engines. Cast Iron. I have an HH70 on my Lawn Ranger it has been in use for over 20 years now with no issues. The electronic ignition on some of them works well but when it fails is expensive/hard to find replacement.
