slammer302 2,156 #1 Posted September 10, 2015 I bought a 314H awhile back and i've been fighting carb problems the carb that was on it looks great and i have cleaned several times but it cuts out during heavy load so i put a old #26 carb on it and it runs good but does not have the power when going up hills and mowing so i've decided i need to buy the right carb for it so what have you guys been buying i looked at several different ones on ebay sum were cheaper sum were kinda pricie
tunahead72 2,551 #2 Posted September 10, 2015 Are you sure you have a carb problem? Losing power and cutting out could be any number of things. What else do you know about this engine?
slammer302 2,156 #3 Posted September 10, 2015 I've changed the coil and fuel pump first and their was no change it still was doing the exact same thing the horse only has 280 hours on it which I think is pretty low I'm not a 100% sure its the carb but the only positive changes I've gotten was when I swapped the carb out with 10hp carb Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
squonk 43,916 #4 Posted September 10, 2015 Make sure you don't have a pinhole in your fuel line sucking air
slammer302 2,156 #5 Posted September 11, 2015 since fuel line is fairly cheap i may just go ahead and replace it all it did look weathered
slammer302 2,156 #6 Posted November 3, 2015 I figured i would update you on the issues that i had been having with the 314H it had me beat for awhile and i had put it up for sale and had a few interested but nothing panned out so keep using it around the house with the snow blade on it and kept tinkering with it i never bought a new carb for it but i did put the original one back on and found that the choke linkage was on the wrong way and the gastank had lots of junk in it so with all these little things fixed its running really well i even put the mower deck back on and had no problems with it cutting out under load and also found the spring was broken that holds tension on the drive belt was broke so with all these things fixed its a pretty sweet ride i think a adjustable carb would still help some but im pretty happy with it. bought it with 278 hours and it has 320 on it now still lots of life left in it
