Lagersolut 742 #1 Posted September 9, 2015 Got my newly acquired tall chute gone over and mounted it on the restored C - looks so good I'm half tempted to blow snow with it this year vs the 315

Lagersolut 742 #6 Posted September 10, 2015 This will be my first year with a snow blower on one of my tractors - still have a few things to get ironed out before winter - picked up the lift assist spring yesterday ( 42 bucks for one spring ....ouch ) still going to run the snow blade on a tractor so I'm going to need another set of chains also looking into weight options for the back in addition to wheel weights - have an extra set of turf tread tires on the rim for the one that gets this blower, I found chains work 100% better on turf tread because the chains lay between the lugs on the AG'S .

IMHO, you dont need the lift assist spring, thats more for the 2 stage. try it. Maybe you can return it. Just a suggestion.glenn
PaulC 342 #8 Posted September 10, 2015 lift assist spring is nice with the manual lift but not necessary, and I found when I installed mine and had it adjusted so it was nice and easy to lift the blower the blower had almost zero down pressure so it would start to float on top of the snow, then when I backed it off to have good down pressure it didn't seem like it helped with lifting much? Also in the vendor section one of our member/vendors has the exact same spring for $20, he worked with the actual place that used to manufacture the springs for wheel horse and had them tool up and make more to the exact wheel horse specs.Check amazon for chains I got a nice set from there last year at a good price. And if you already have wheel weights I would just try to run those and chains and see how it does? I have a pretty flat asphalt driveway and haven't used any extra weight just chains on my 312 for the past few years with no issues.
Lagersolut 742 #9 Posted September 10, 2015 Amazon for chains ? never even crossed my mind to check there ( for tractor tire chains ) and I'm a prime member .....thanks

Just a suggestion.glenn One of the reasons I went ahead and bought it, the lift flag was broke once and re-welded right above the U bolt mount , figured the spring may relieve some of the weight/stress at the flag to tube weld bead .I noticed ( maybe it's just me ) but it seems the price of parts has literally gone through the roof the last year or two ....doesn't seem to be as many parts over on the Bay either .
Horse46 519 #11 Posted September 11, 2015 Awesome! I wish we got enough snow here to warrant such a toy (tool) looks the business.
PaulC 342 #12 Posted September 11, 2015 Amazon for chains ? never even crossed my mind to check there ( for tractor tire chains ) and I'm a prime member .....thanks O your a prime member too...bonus! I am too so I check amazon before buying almost anything. They have all kinds of options, are often cheaper, and so convenient to not even leave the house.I have actually got a few tractor related items from there. Along with the chains I got a really cool chain bungee setup that ive never saw anywhere else before. http://www.amazon.com/Quality-Chain-QV1172-Adjuster-Passenger/dp/B00EDFZ1RK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1441998449&sr=8-6&keywords=tire+chain+bungee these might not be the exact ones but same idea and a huge improvement over trying to loop around a regular bungee.Amazon is where I got the Valspar enamel hardener I used when I repainted my 312 and I tried to get it local that was the only place I could find it. And the most surprising was a tune up kit for my KT-17 which came in actual Kohler packaging that looked like it was from the 90's so maybe NOS somehow, I thought it was very cool and I am definitely keeping the packaging.Well enough boosting amazon for parts. Good luck with your tractor and blower my guess is youll be surprised how fun it is to clear the driveway now.
