ronhatch 406 #1 Posted September 9, 2015 My recently restored C-101 w/ a 42" SD deck will be my first experience mowing with a Wheel Horse. I have a AC B-10, a JD 110 and a Ingersoll 4016 that, after I did some modifications to their decks, mow beautifully. So, based on everyone's Wheel Horse experience, what mower blades do the best job and, if any, what modifications to the deck improves the quality of cut? FYI; Like I did to all my decks, I am going to install rollers for that stripped baseball field look.
clip 185 #2 Posted September 9, 2015 I've got a replacement set of Oregon 91-805 blades I swap out with whatever it came with (I think OEM), both in good shape. I'll switch them two or three times a season and touch them up with a file. Keeps them sharp with little effort, about 5-10 mins per blade.I'm not sure anyone else makes a 14" blade, but subscribed to find out.

clip 185 #4 Posted September 10, 2015 Whlvr made a good point. I just replaced the spindle belt with a Gates 6886 Powerrated and it's made a heck of a difference in how the deck cuts in heavy grass and how far it throws. No more clumping!

What does Wheel Horse recommend as far as setting up the deck properly?
clip 185 #6 Posted September 10, 2015 http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/39928-adjusting-a-mowing-deck/I used this thread to help adjust mine. When I got it I had maybe 1/4-3/8 drop between the front and back of the blades. It's still not perfectly level, one blade is slightly lower than the others, but I adjusted for a 1/8-1/4 drop and that evened the cut quite a bit.
