callum12 257 #1 Posted September 7, 2015 (edited) hi all,i wrote a post asking about a Plough i found on the that auction site, well the time came to bid while i was have a cup of tea! and so i missed it luckily it didn't sell and i asked the seller if he had a buy it now price, bare in mine the start price was £135 plus £7.99 postage. the buy it now price he wanted was £130 and he'll pay the postage! good job i missed the auction i'd say its a brand new unused plough the seller brought for his Bolens ( i think it was) he later sold the tractor and so never used it. they cost about £200 new from the factory. the plough had a the wrong hitch but all i had to do is cut and grind off the tube thingy and drill out the holes bigger, luckily the holes are spaced the right amount otherwise i'd have the make and adapter plateto be honest though i don't think the dog was too interested! oh well, maybe she prefers cultivators! the wheel horse looks on in anticipation of the work to come!after cutting, grinding and drilling its all ready to go!thanks for looking, callum Edited September 7, 2015 by callum12

Shynon 7,483 #3 Posted September 8, 2015 Looks nice, if you can I would polish off all that paint before you go to use it or it will be like pulling a boat anchor that is stuck in the mud

callum12 257 #6 Posted September 11, 2015 a plough day would be great fun!do these shear mounted coulters work as well as the wheel type coulters?callum
C-101plowerpower 1,606 #7 Posted September 11, 2015 Dunno, haven't had a try with a rolling coulter yet
callum12 257 #8 Posted September 12, 2015 ah okay, do you have a hydro lift or the manual lift with the lever? If so how heavy is the plough to lift? since i an designing and making my own hitch lift i have to get enough mechanical advantage while having enough movement.callum
stevasaurus 23,296 #9 Posted September 13, 2015 They are not heavy...and if you are moving forward slowly at the end of the row while lifting, it will lift right out. Probably lighter then lifting a snow blade.
C-101plowerpower 1,606 #10 Posted September 13, 2015 yep, steve is about right, even when plowing i can hold it in place so it's not that heavy
callum12 257 #11 Posted September 13, 2015 I've got multiple positions on the rocker shaft so if i find i can't get enough movement on the plough i can make adjustments.thanks all, callum
AMC RULES 37,202 #12 Posted September 13, 2015 Don't forget us callum... once you get it mounted up, we'll need some picts of your plow in action.
callum12 257 #13 Posted September 13, 2015 haha don't worry there will be plenty of pictures! got to finish the tractor first though!i mounted it on today just to see how things work and it is pretty heavy to lift! comparing it to the brinley ploughs there is a lot more metal to lift! i may have to beef up the lifting arm. other than that things seem good.callum
