Hey everyone! i am rewiring my 68 commando 8 and it has a lighter, lights, generator red light.  Can someone tell me how to wire the gen light.(and when it is suppose to come on) I have downloaded the manual and have followed it 100%. But there is not a gen light or a light switch in the wire diagram. and  I have wired the lights and cigarette lighter to the same place off of the voltage regulator. (will this be ok). Thank you guy in advance.

AMC RULES
My 1075's is wired into the ignition switch, using the I, and S terminals.
  No need to ask me how I know.   :angry-extinguishflame:

Wiring for 1967 model 877 shows the generator light.
The lamp socket for the generator light has an isolated ground but you likely knew that.

Can someone tell me how to wire the gen light.(and when it is suppose to come on)

the gen light is wired between the S and the I terminals on the ignition switch.

the light is turned on anytime the generator output voltage is significantly less than the battery voltage and therefore the battery would not be charging.

the light should be on when he key is in the run position with the engine not running,
during cranking of the engine,
and possibly when the engine is running at very low speed.

of course, if the generator is defective, the light will remain on

The light may also remain on when the Regulator is not adjusted correctly, or has dirty contacts. You may also nee to re-polarize the regulator.
