alswagg 128 #1 Posted August 22, 2015 Cutting and hauling logs today. Used the FEL to carry logs and lift for easy cutting. Many have said these FEL can't pick up much, well I say many just don't have any idea what these are capable of. The short 12' log is an Oak the large end is 16" the other is around 12". The long log is a Jack pine very wet. Close to 30' long.
DennisThornton 4,769 #2 Posted August 22, 2015 What do you think of the steering with a big load on the FEL?And what do you think of the steering without a big load?
WNYPCRepair 1,875 #3 Posted August 22, 2015 That is an awesome machine. @DennisThornton I would think the backhoe takes some of the weight off the front wheels.

Brian01 481 #7 Posted August 22, 2015 Nice...id love to have a machine like that to help out during wood cutting season.
alswagg 128 #8 Posted August 22, 2015 The front wheel bearings are tapered 4 bolt hubs Thanks. The forks I made from a rear 3 point hay bale spears. Much more versital than the bucket. However only takes 10 minutes to change. Just 4 pins. Easily digs to run power lines and water lines also.

alswagg 128 #13 Posted August 22, 2015 This machine was originally used to dig graves in Northwest New York. I bought from a guy who bought at a township auction. So, it has been used but still works great.
DennisThornton 4,769 #14 Posted August 23, 2015 Nice! That's a BIG plus! I didn't know that power assist was available on any WH other than the Lxi and xi. Learn something all the time here!Ever wish it was also 4wd?
alswagg 128 #15 Posted August 23, 2015 I added the power assist. As for front assist drive, yes but on my other D that I use for plowing snow and dirt.

DennisThornton 4,769 #18 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) I added the power assist. As for front assist drive, yes but on my other D that I use for plowing snow and dirt. YOU added it! Well, that sounds like a reason for a new post! Also explains why I thought they didn't come with power assist...I have a NH 35hp 4wd with a FEL and backhoe and other stuff. I normally drive around in 2wd but sometimes if the backhoe is off and I have a full bucket I don't drive anywhere! Until I throw her in 4wd. I figured you had that as well on occasion even with the backhoe on.I would still love to have your machine! First it's a WH! Second it's a D! Then with a FEL! And even a backhoe! And finally with power assist steering! Wow!Oh! What year and model?Very nice machine! Thanks for sharing the pictures! And speaking of which, please feel free to post more! alswagg 128 #19 Posted August 23, 2015 Well ok Here is a pick of my neighbor giving him a test run dig. Ya I said "him" since the D has a big block twin and big blocks are always referred to as "he" or "him" lol

DennisThornton 4,769 #21 Posted August 23, 2015 What's the backhoe's depth limit? Easy enough to trench 4ft down?
WNYPCRepair 1,875 #22 Posted August 23, 2015 Looks to be about 4' in the picture
alswagg 128 #23 Posted August 23, 2015 Max dig is 6'. I run electric at 4' fast and easy. The water lines are down 5 to 6. The septic tank I put in is down 6'. Paid for itself over and over and over. Plus a lot of fun to operate.
