Teddy da Bear 11 #2 Posted November 19, 2008 I have many 8 speed transmissions. I hope you are not trying to shift "on the fly". Because. this is a BIG "no no". You must be at a complete stop or you will break it. (been there done that). And most of mine are a little difficult at times to shift from high to low or vice versa. Just don't force it. kpinnc 14,641 #3 Posted November 19, 2008 Best thing to do when it won't shift from low to high, or vise-versa, is put it back on whatever range you were in, let out on the clutch just a bit, and try again. Also, if you're on any grade at all, just let it roll a few inches. These trannies don't have any kind of syncronizers, so the gears pretty much have to line up perfectly to go from one range to the other. NEVER force the tranny from one range to another. You'll be replacing roll pins internally, at the very least, if you do. As for changing gears while in the same range, "on the fly" as TDB mentioned, I have seen it done. I just can't duplicate it. The way it was explained to me is that "only a truck driver can do it". Personally, I just change gears from a complete stop. Kevin
