chorusguy 227 #1 Posted August 15, 2015 New deck to me. Took off the belt guard to lubricate. Found an issue with one of the pulleys. It had gotten loose and has wallowed itself out so AME looking for a replacement. Also not sure if I need a spindle bearing. There is some side to side movement with the pulley removed. Is there just one bearing? Secondly the double pulley doesn't seem to accept grease. I pushed a mall screwdriver in it and felt it spring in but when I grease it grease just oozrs out around the nozzle. Can inly upload one picture says insuficient memory

Don1977 605 #3 Posted August 16, 2015 There is a ball bearing in the top and a needle bearing at the bottom. That type spindle we call "Double D" because of the two Flat sides on the shaft. When you find a replacement pulley I suggest a better shaft as any play in that type tends to wear the pulley. The star compression washers used on top of the pulley and below the blades are no longer available new. The newer type spindles will fit your deck. There are the 3/4" shaft used in the 80's and later they were changed to metric spindles and the pulleys are all different.. I have used all three types, but I haven't had Double D's and the other on my deck at the same time so as to how they line up with the newer spindles I don't know. .
