Akestner 36 #1 Posted August 10, 2015 So I finally got my tiller hooked up it works good really shakes the horse around, anyways the shaft of the large pulley on the tiller smoked a little at first then stopped smoking it wasn't slipping or anything and everything spins freely should I be looking for a problem as far as I know it hasn't been used in a long time I also noticed the gear box was pretty hot also is that normal ? bmsgaffer 2,053 #2 Posted August 11, 2015 Did you check for oil in the gear box? Does it shake the horse while up in the air or just digging in? (should only shake while digging in, otherwise something might be bent)I just used mine for the first time this weekend, but didnt check the temp of the gearbox when I was done. The only thing I can think of with the smoke on the shaft is if the seal was dry and it burnt a little when you first started it. I would check the oil and the seal.
Akestner 36 #3 Posted August 11, 2015 It just shakes while digging in it stopped after a couple minutes haven't checked the oil will do thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
slammer302 2,156 #4 Posted August 11, 2015 as bmsgaffer said they will shake while digging. you might have a bad chain or sprocket inside the case these tillers or pretty simple machines ive had one apart a few times just a couple gears and a couple sprokets and a big ole chain
Akestner 36 #5 Posted August 11, 2015 Well I looked a little closer and the pulley is bent a little I got to use it tonight got almost done and it locked up the shaft the large pulley is on has a lot of slop in it so I guess I'm gonna have to tear into it I can pull the shaft out and it frees up but as soon as I drop the tiller in the ground it binds back up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
