RJ58 mower deck operation & drive belts

Recommended Posts

WH Doug

Does the pedal to engage the deck have to be held down with your foot while mowing?
There are (I think) three belts to operate the RJ58 mower deck, and I need the numbers for these.
Thanks for your help.

No, there is a release on the right pedal to start the mower and then you push down on that right pedal again and that little stop catches on it's own to stop the blades.  The manuals for the mower decks are in the manuals section on the main page...but here is one of the links.  :)  welcome to Red Square.  :)

Not on the RJ deck Steve, you're referring to the mid 60s style.  The RJ deck has a pedal on the deck itself on the left side.

@WH Doug I can't speak to whether or not you have to hold it down, although I have two of them, I've never mowed with them. It is my understanding though that the pedal should snap and hold itself in either engaged or disengaged position.

The RJ deck is at pg 17 of part 2 of this manual....

Some pictures of your actual deck might help too... because there are a few different early versions of this 32" deck.
