Gravel Rake

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a rear mount gravel rake for my horse, but not sure if there was one even built specifically for WH. I've got a hard pack limestone driveway and my grader blade really isn't up to the task of breaking up the stone, and I don't want to tear up the blade trying. If anyone knows of a rake that'll mount up, I'd appreciate some info, I'm wanting to be able to use the rear lift so I may have to fab up my own rake. Thanks for any help/input. Shane

That looks like it would work well, haven't seen one with teeth like that, I usually just see the box grader. Thanks!

I love my York Rake, I have the TA-1 with the optional fold down grader blade.

After looking, I saw a pic from another member who did a homebuilt ripper/scarifier, I'm not sure if he's still a member or not, his name in another thread was  4surburbans I believe. I can't seem to find his thread on his build. If I can find the pic of his scarifier, I'll post it here

You probably need a real tractor. WH just aren't heavy enough to break up limestone. I have 3-6" of crushed stone on our driveway. It's at least 1/4 mile. It get graded annually w a 50" mid mount grader. I use to use a driveway groomer http://www.drivewaygroomer.com/. It worked well behind my truck. I have the 6' wide version it's just to large for WH to pull. Didn't have a WH when I purchased it. The 4' version should work just fine. I'd suggest something similar to the driveway groomer or a tow behind take like previously mentioned. I absolutely love these lil red tractors. Unfortunately they do have their limitations. I have a 4' York with the scraper blade like the one Mike spoke of, but mine is 3 point mounted on my GT-14. As Forest Road said, it works great on loose material but will not do much for a well packed drive.

Ok, thanks for the input, I need something for the hard pack limestone, It sounds like a ripper/scarifier would work the best. I'm not sure how a cultivator might work. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I like that ratchet rake is multi pupose, I still may just build a scarifier and then use a rake like that or just use my grader blade. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
