elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #26 Posted July 9, 2015 Thanks for all help. The 310-8 started with jumper wire . I hooked up tan wire to solenoid and it started ran great. That problem is solved. I need your thoughts on oil level switch. When I removed the switch , the float part of the switch was missing. When I thought the switch may have been the problem , I looked up part number went online to Kohler , price was about $94.00. Called customer service to make sure that was looking at the correct part. Transferred a number of time. Finally got a phone number. It was my local distributor. Discussed part with a live human . Found out that oil level switch was not available and had not been available since the early 2000's. What is the chance that the former owner removed float from switch when he found out he could not buy a new switch. I really don't want to remove oil pan unless there is no other choice. Do you think the float part of switch could be in oil pan?
buckrancher 2,694 #27 Posted July 9, 2015 Yes have seen thatthe float switch is a normally open switch when the float is floating in the oil with it missing it's still a normally open switch but the float is getting pounded by the rod oil dipper as it floats around inside the motorBrian

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,362 #31 Posted July 10, 2015 I used my head and borrowed one of those scopes that contractors use to check out walk cavities. Removed the oil level switch and inspected the oil pan and entire bottom of motor. Did not find any thing. Someone must have removed float part of switch some time before I purchased the 310-8. I have got to get one of the those scopes. After inspecting engine , I found the wrench that I dropped one top of trans and numerous nuts and washers in various locations on the frame and deck. Thanks a lot guys, I could not have got the 310-8 running without your help. You saved me a lot of money. Thanks again.
