PTO Safety Switch Operation

Can anyone confirm if this is the propper operation of the two PTO safety switches on a 300 series:
PTO disengaged, top switch open bottom closed.
PTO engaged, both switches closed.

One of the metal tabs on the top switch is sprung making it difficult to close both switches  with the cam in the PTO engaged position.

I would like to look at the proper diagram for your model as the type of ignition makes a difference on how the pto switches are wired but for the most part

If that is the case Garry I need to make some adjustments to make the cam go past the bottom switch metal tab and open the switch. Can you do that by changing the travel of the cam by turning the threaded PTO rod?

I doubt changing the pto rod will help. It does not affect the position of the handle and if it was far enough off to affect switch operation the first complaint would be the pto clutch is slipping real bad.

What is your tractor's model and serial number?

Have never had the need to go into the switches so don't know how they are activated. I believe both are the same with 3 terminals each. Are you sure the correct pair of terminals are being used on the problem switch?

I don't have the serial number handy, but the model is a 1986 308-8. The switch connectors are 3 position with only two loaded. The signal continues on when the switches are in the closed position.
