Dennys502 246 #1 Posted June 11, 2015 (edited) Someone from RS has offered to take this - Thank everyone for the comments and looking. DennyThis little Suburban needs a home. I have had this for 15 plus years and had planned to restore it but I just have more than I can handle. Its time for someone else to restore it to its former glory. I was given this free so I'm giving it free to anyone who comes to pick it up (Brainerd, Minnesota). It comes with a 32" deck. The engine is a Clinton. Everything is original as far as I can tell but the seat is different from any that I have seen as it is solid without holes.Denny (612) 764-2543 Edited June 11, 2015 by Dennys502

Dennys502 246 #5 Posted June 11, 2015 From what I've been able to figure out from researching this appears to be an early suburban as it has the Clinton engine. It's been noted that between 59 and 60 they also had solid seats like this one.
WHX?? 51,739 #6 Posted June 11, 2015 (edited) I'll take that little gem off your hands. I am in WI but plan on fishing Mille Lacs this summer. Hope you wouldn't mind it if I go thru it - that would look sweet with ag tires & tri ribs on it. Just so you know I do have a fetish for stainless hardware. I will pm you with my phone no. I can't seem to get thru on yours. Edited June 11, 2015 by WHX3

WHX?? 51,739 #18 Posted June 12, 2015 Big THANKS to Dennys502 and all the fine things the folks here are saying. Rest assured this little gem will have a fine home and be well taken care of. Shes going to spend the next few months in my climate controlled shop. Sorry Horse46 it more than likely is going to get a makeover, not in my character to leave well enough alone....with the help of some people here of course. Can't say enough about the resources, knowledge base and the talent here on RS. I am more than willing and able to spend the time and money to make it happen and it will keep me out of the tavern! As for the shows?? who knows joebob...lets just say anything is possible the Lord willing and my wife's permmision!I don't feel so bad now about letting that cherry '67 Lawn Ranger get away that a guy only 40 miles away and was damn near giving away to go across the the big lake to MI now!More words and of course..... to follow.....

CasualObserver 3,411 #20 Posted June 12, 2015 That is a nice early suburban 400 from before they started making the 550... I can't tell for sure, but I don't see the hole in the dash for the ignition switch (which wasn't needed until they started making the 550 several months later than the 400) and I see it has the smooth drive belt guard... they didn't start adding that embossed line (and later the cross) to prevent warping until later. Glad its going to find a good home.Jim, we'd love to see you bring it (or any others) over to Le Sueur, MN for the Pioneer Power show when our North Central group meets up at the end of August. I know it's a haul for you. Or maybe in Portage, WI Garden Tractor Daze...this year or next, doesn't matter... we like to see them in original condition as well as restored! WHX?? 51,739 #21 Posted June 12, 2015 I can see you are gonna be the one to talk to about restore Jason, sounds like you know abit about this model. I will be looking at bunches of pics of this time period to make sure I get it right. The show in Portage might be a real posibility......it's what???....a whole whoppin 25 miles from my house! Le Sueur isn't that far either, I go about that far to my cabin in northern WI. Now i am gonna have to buy a enclosed trailer to haul it in to all these shows..... might have to consider one of those fancy camper/horse trailers the rodeoers use, throw in a new truck with a fifth wheel to pull it while we are at it.......oh my stars the wife is gonna kill me ...... which might me good news for you guys, I am gonna put it in my will that this machine be given to another WH addict should I croak .....pay it forward as some of the guys said....
