There is a C-175 for sale close to me, says it has new bearings in deck and last year had a cylinder head replaced, asking $900.00 OBO, going to go look at it. what would be a fair offer to him?

i'm not sure what wheels horses sell for in your area but i wouldn't pay more than 500$ to 600$ for it
series 1 kohlers are said to not be as good but ive heard lots of storys of them lasting for ever if maintained well

That's a tough question. Would I pay 900 for it? Idk. I am not in the market for a C 175. It is a good looking tractor. If you want it and have the cash, offer $700-$800. If I want a tractor and I have the cash, I don't dicker too much but that's just me.

It is a nice looking horse! At $900 its certainly not in to being 'gloat' worthy but not all that bad.I think I'd go with papaglide and try for $7-800. In case youre not familiar with the KT17 engine the first year or so (series I) did not like to be run on a slope (shallow oil pan) The series ll was better in this regard, If you have any sloping places in your yard it could be a factor in choosing this engine.

I have 2 of them and I have to say I DO like the sound of that twin, and a good stout engine too. (I've got a flat yard)

Not a fan of black hoods, I feel you should get a pair for that price.

Love mine...but agree he's over priced.
Typically, you'll find these 175's in the 5-600$ range.

I agree with the 6 to 7 hundred price range.Try it out.Good battery in it? That saves 40 bucks. All good tires that aren't rotted and hold air? Couple hundred if it needs all four.Mower deck in good shape with no rot holes and quiet bearings and idler? We all know what a deck costs to repair.Honestly,I'd offer the guy 7 hundred if all checks out OK.But then again,I'm not a cheapskate or always looking for a gift.
