bds1984 1,499 #1 Posted June 3, 2015 Yesterday I was on my way home from work I stopped and looked at a Horse that was sitting for sale in a front yard. Just from driving by it appeared to be twin-cylinder with an automatic and hydro-lift. But, as I pulled into the driveway I noticed it to be an Onan powered 416-8 with what appears to be an electric toggle switch controlled, hydraulic lift system. Was this a common, after-market kit for those of us who want hydro attachment lift? It looks like it could have been done at the factory it was so well done it fooled me as I drove by. bmsgaffer 2,053 #3 Posted June 3, 2015 Its not hydraulic at all. It uses an electric linear actuator to lift implements. It was a factory deal on some higher end 8 speed tractors. I dont know if there was ever a kit available but I do know that to find all the parts for a factory correct system are pretty hard to find now. They are out there, just not super common.
bds1984 1,499 #4 Posted June 3, 2015 The reason I thought it was hydraulic was the presence of oil around the left side foot rest like my 520H has. I'll try to get some pictures on my way home today.
Tankman 3,523 #5 Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) I have seen manual trans Horses w/ 'lectric lift. Looks fairly simple.I only lift 48" SD decks and dozers, don't need lift assist but, have used them. Nice. Edited June 3, 2015 by Tankman

Ill be looking forward to pictures!
jsp_333 280 #7 Posted June 3, 2015 Just came back from looking at a 418-8. Was pleasantly surprised to find it had the electric lift. Tractor and implements were not well maintained - imo - and the lift was a reflection of the tractor. It sounded like it had seen better days.Didn't buy tractor. bds1984 1,499 #8 Posted June 4, 2015 Well, I stopped by to inspect it further only to find it sold. I am sure that someone got a good deal on that machine!
