Need some help with a few issues

The belt should be on the INNER pulley...as in your pic, so that much is correct.
1)There are two spacers in the mule drive...one is a bit wider than the other.  One is between the 2 pulleys and the other is between the outer pulley and the metal shield....put the wider shim there.
2) Are you sure you have the deck and the mule drive mounted correctly.  In your 2nd pic, I should NOT be able to see the bottom of the BLUE belt below the frame, but I can. That is to say, the bottom leg of  the belt should be routed back toward the center of the tractor....not to the right side like in your pic.  Something is definitely wrong there.   It seems that your deck is mounted too far to the right, or you have an incompatible deck.
Here are pics of how the belt should be routed, and the approximate angle you can see as it goes back under the tractor, to the middle of the deck.  (Both are 42 side decks in my pics on a C-0120 and a 314-8)

Maybe should be...but the belt came down to the pulley straighter when it was on the inside.
little bit of the blue wore off but the belt stayed in tact for an hour of mowing....then I started getting some rattling from the deck. I'm thinking a spindle is giving up on me. It started getting louder quickly as it ran, so I shut her down again till I get it figured out, I'll post some pics..

o and congrats on Steve from Vermont on his first purchase of a wheel horse, I told him to sign up on here so maybe we will see him soon. He purchased my D160 tonight!

If a spindle is going bad, I have complete replacements or parts for them...most any spindle..and the pulleys too.

This might help make a good guess....i noticed the bolt that holds the blade on was loose by 1\2 inch so I tightened it....but when I ran it it still shook hard. None of the blade spindles seem to be wobbling but check out the video of the idler pulley
hmmmm. Seems a 8sec clip is bigger than 3mb

If you had a blade nut that loose there is a good chance that it wore the spindle shaft and/or the hole in the blade pretty badly so when you tightened it up you probably did not tighten it up centered.

I would pull the blades off, look for wear and replace appropriately.

Thanks gaffer...
I did pull off the deck and found the front pulley to be making all the noise, but if I'm digging into it im not going to put old crap back on. I'm just gonna buy all new spindles. I am havi difficulty with numbers here.
my deck is 36" wide by measurement
the numbers on the tag I can't find the exact # in the manual
and what I did find seems to be for a 40somethin side discharge but mines a rear discharge.
heres pics of what I see.

The 75-48XS01 is a 1977 48" deck for a D-Series Automatic.
7=1977
5=mower
48=width of cut
XS=side discharge
01=parts list identifier

Is the 36" rear discharge deck on the C-175?
1980-1982 model 05-36MR01
1983-1984 model 05-36MR02
I could also be an older or newer model.

This file helps you identify mower spindle assemblies and tracks the changes made to the assemblies over the years.

Click on a mower in the index and it will take you to a single page showing all the spindles used and available for that model of deck.

Post a wanted ad for your spindles. I've bought a whole set of rebuilt spindles and pulleys on here, but you might save a good bit of cash if you tear into them and find out what NEEDs replacing. If the castings are good then you can buy the innerds.

The cast iron center pulley for that model 48" mower deck is # 6756 and the new part # is 106848.
I HAVE THAT PULLEY....NEW.   It is listed on Ebay.  I also have other parts for that deck....

Yeah but guys that must of been the wrong tag/serial that someone put on that deck.. Look at the measurements only 36" not 48 and its definitely not a D model deck....

I mud have accidentally mixed up which tag that pic went to, they were both stored together....but I can still now find any serial tag for the C model

C-175?
1980-1982 model 05-36MR01
1983-1984 model 05-36MR02

Those are the model of decks sold those years for the C-Series but there are many more that would fit. The decks for the C-Series from 1973 to 1984 will all fit as will the 300-Series decks sold 1985 right up to this year because they made more of them even though they have not built any more tractors in the last 3 years.
