wessex horse 15 #1 Posted June 2, 2015 Hi, I am unable to find wheelweights for either front or rear wheels.I was once told it was an idea to fill the hubs with concrete, using a spare wheel as a mould. Is this practical or just a daft idea?I,ve seen the 110£ quid ones on ebay, which is a bit steep for my budget and too far away.Wheel weights would be great as I sometimes need to haul a chipper shredder up a short but steep bank, and I lose grip about 2/3rd way up, even on track grip tyres
RedRanger 1,469 #2 Posted June 2, 2015 If you're talking about using the outside of a rim to make a mold, I suppose it might work. Bolt on front weights are available. (cast iron)You can also fill the front tires/tubes with a heavy liquid. Auto window washer fluid/water/antifreeze/calcium chloride and Rim Guard are all options.http://www.rimguard.biz/
Tankman 3,523 #3 Posted June 2, 2015 You can fill junk yard drums with concrete. Easy chore.Measure your rims to pick drums that fit.
wessex horse 15 #4 Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks couple good ideas there, I had thought of the drum way out, but finding somewhere with a selection of old drums here is getting ever more difficult, we don't have proper "junk yards" per se any more, just recycling centresPlain car scrap yards have gone bonkers; the nearest to me is 20 miles away; sign in, wear a reflective vest................................. don't climb over vehicles, don't get dirty........................
