golftr_man 2 #1 Posted June 1, 2015 On the 42" side discharge deck is there or can you have the last blade at the discharge side have a bolt on wing? Some of the two blade decks have a blade with a bolt on wing attached. I have added a Cyclone Classic Rake and thought a blade with the wing would really throw the grass out of the deck better. Thanks for any advise.
dcrage 630 #2 Posted June 1, 2015 Guess you could try to make one (I would be scared of something like this coming apart)-- Don't think Wheel Horse made that for the 42'" -- You are referring to the 'high lift' blade made for the 37" SD -- That deck was designed to use with a bagging system without power assistance
bmsgaffer 2,053 #3 Posted June 1, 2015 Welcome to Redsquare! With the cyclone rake being a self-powered attachment, it should be generating plenty of vacuum to pull in most airborne clippings. If not, you may have some airflow problems in the vacuum itself.Pushing the grass into the cyclone faster than its pulling them will only cause clogs and other problems in my opinion. If you have clippings dropping out behind the deck, you may check a couple things. Make sure you have sharp blades (and NOT the gator mulching type), make sure the PTO is adjusted properly so there is no slip (thus lowering your blade speed), and make sure both your deck belt and your PTO belt are in good condition and tensioned properly. golftr_man 2 #4 Posted June 1, 2015 Thank you gentlemen for such fast replies. My Father-law has the High lift blades on his 37" Wheel Horse deck, that's why I asked about the 42" deck. Also your point of pushing the grass faster than the Cyclone pulls makes great sense. I used the new Cyclone Saturday for the first time and it works very well! No clippings left behind and a well built attachment. I have been cutting my lawn with my 1973 8 spd 12hp since 1973 without bagging so this is all new for me. The Cyclone now makes the length of the tractor plus bagger approx. 12 foot long so you have to be careful making turns. I also saw someone on this site who has four blades on his 42", always fun to see how others re-engineer their equipment. Last year I bought a 1993 14hp 8 spd with 100 hours and never used before 42" rear discharge deck which I haven't the heart to get dirty yet! Ha! Thanks again!!!
