GreenMntRanger 38 #1 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) The problem:Was running fine then quit. Would turn but not catch. Determined it was not drawing fuel, ordered new fuel pump and installed. cranked it a couple times, blew the 15 amp fuse, replaced, cranked it a couple times, blew it again, replaced , seems to be holding. got her started, ran rough for a bit, seemed to smooth out. Left her running while I went to the shed to put tools away, came back, tractor had stalled out (yes it has fuel) now wont start...Im at a loss. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated Edited May 19, 2015 by GreenMntRanger
nylyon-(Admin) 7,958 #2 Posted May 19, 2015 Is the fuel getting pumped to the carb? Perhaps the screen in the tank is clogged, valve partially shut off, fuel filter, sticky needle valve?
GreenMntRanger 38 #3 Posted May 19, 2015 and now she's running. think a carb rebuild is in the works, didnt even think to check the fuel valve, or the tank screen. thanks karl.
GreenMntRanger 38 #4 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) herLeft her idling for a bit and she died out again and wont start. fuel valve is open, thinking I will drain her tonight and see if the tank screen is clogged, but Im leaning towards the carb at this point and its a new fuel filter half way thru last summer Edited May 19, 2015 by GreenMntRanger
BESTDOGEVER 218 #5 Posted May 19, 2015 Check that you have spark I know that sounds maybe a little crazy but it could be you had 2 things going on and chasing the one might get expensive . Besides it is free to check the spark and rule it out. I say that partly because it keeps quitting on you once it gets warm.
Forest Road 594 #6 Posted May 20, 2015 Check the fuel out put at the pump. Hoses do decay over time. I usually replace the hoses anytime I get a new horse and add an inline filter.
GreenMntRanger 38 #7 Posted May 20, 2015 in line filter added last summer. I'll inspect the hoses again, see if I missed something
