chorusguy 227 #1 Posted May 7, 2015 Was hauling my little yard cart full of pine straw today and when I stopped to fill it up again I had no hydraulics. No forward no reverse and no deck lift. What's my next step
oldredrider 2,553 #2 Posted May 7, 2015 Check for a loose set screw on the input pulley. Sounds like the pulley is not driving the rear end pump. While you're at it, check the oil in the rear. Should take 10w30 motor oil. Make sure drive belt from the engine has not come off the transmission pulley or broken.
shallowwatersailor 3,214 #3 Posted May 8, 2015 I believe the C-160 has a Sundstrand transmission, which uses ATF.
chorusguy 227 #4 Posted May 8, 2015 no it requires 10w30 motor oil per the manual. Will check those things when I get home tomorrow. Fingers crossed that is all that is wrong. Thanks for your help.
bmsgaffer 2,053 #5 Posted May 8, 2015 also check the axle in the hubs Each axle turns the hub via a woodruff key and they tend to shear at the oddest times. You will notice the axle turning within the hub on one side (only one has to break to prevent all movement).

chorusguy 227 #7 Posted May 8, 2015 OK. So I went out today and looked at it. Started it up released the parking brake and shifted to forward. The fan/pulley on the right side is not turning at all. Comments?
stratostar250 934 #8 Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Sounds like what oldredrider said. It sounds as if the belt is not engaging the transmission. Could be a broken belt, could be a problem with a pulley. I'd say take off that side panel where the belt is, and watch what is happening when you are engaging the belt. pfrederi 18,662 #9 Posted May 9, 2015 Sorry, didn't realize that you had the manual. With older tractors/sundstrands you should always check the color of the tranny fluid( Over th years WH changed the specified fluid and previous owners may or may not have changed it.. Red is ATF tan motor oil....do not mix them. I stick with what ever is in there as flushing out th system takes a lot of time and a lot of expensive oil. chorusguy 227 #10 Posted May 9, 2015 OK. Thanks goes out to all of you. The c160 is off and running again. The drive belt had slipped off. Yea!!!!. Now the million dollar question is why. When I pulled the blade guard off the belt had quite a bit of play in it. Any comments? Thanks again

Forest Road 594 #13 Posted May 10, 2015 Time for a new belt. Check the idler pulley while she apart. Might be time for a new pulley or bearings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
