mikeeyre74 289 #1 Posted April 22, 2015 So the PTO has what, two slightly different sized pulleys on it.. how do you know which one to use for what implement you're turning? I have a mower (36") and a snowblower for my '77 B-80. Which one do I put the belt on, the inside or outside (smaller) pulley? How do you know which one to use, does it say somewhere in a manual that I don't have?
groundhog47 347 #2 Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) There is no manual posted (OM) for a definite answer but a 76 36"RD shows belt on inner most groove. You can search "Manuals" for a particular snow blower and might find a pic or answer; but more than likely someone will give you the answer. Racinbob 11,975 #3 Posted April 22, 2015 The mower deck and tiller use the inner pulley. Snowblower goes to the outside.
bmsgaffer 2,053 #4 Posted April 23, 2015 Someone correct me if I am wrong but it seems like most "front mount" attachments use the outer pulley (generator, snow blower, chipper shredder) where as the mid mount and rear mount attachments (mower, tiller) use the inner pulley. The one exception to that would be the front mount mower, but it has its own mule drive to route the belt properly.
Racinbob 11,975 #5 Posted April 23, 2015 Now that you mention it Brandon, that could be true. I'm not sure it's etched in concrete but in thinking back, that was the case for the attachments I had.
