how to test a raider 10 with tecumseh for spark

i just want to be sure i will not fry anything.there is no ignition switch and i do not have one i could use and i am not going to buy one yet if the SSI is fryed..will hooking my jumper cables directly to the starter to crank the engine just for spark check hurt the SSI?

nevermind,since the severe head trauma and significant memory loss that occured i have major episodes of confusion and i dont know what to do moments.
