stevebo-(Moderator) 8,538 #1 Posted April 20, 2015 Anyone use the non greaseable bearing for the mower deck spindles? I have a new set I bought. I was thinking maybe pull the inside dust cover off and make them greaseable. Thoughts?
pacer 3,177 #2 Posted April 20, 2015 I converted the last deck, a 48", I rebuilt to sealed bearings -- I had 2 prior mowers/decks off other brands with those in them and one, a Yard Man, I used the crap out of and never had a problem with them over 22yrs use, changed 2-3 out when a spindle would fail and they felt marginal. I've long had a hang up about pumping most of a tube of grease in the cavity. Grease doesnt 'flow' and the only way to get it in to the balls is under pressure. I've used the deck I converted 2-3 times, but it'll take til the end of the mowing season to probably see if they hold up - I have great faith that they will do just fine... buckrancher 2,694 #3 Posted April 20, 2015 I have done that Steve no problem but you need to remove both sides from the bearing as the grease pressure will push them out anyway Brian
