jgsmith16 0 #1 Posted April 15, 2015 I just re-wired my c-121 and followed the wiring diagram in the manual. I am having an issue where the engine will stop running when the ignition switch is turned to run. I must have some wire switched but can't figure it out. Any help would be very helpful. nylyon-(Admin) 7,867 #2 Posted April 15, 2015 When is it running just when the key is turned to start, then when released the engine stops?
rmaynard 16,211 #3 Posted April 15, 2015 When you rewired it, did you replace the ignition switch?
jgsmith16 0 #4 Posted April 15, 2015 Nylyon, Yes runs in start. When I release it shuts off. Rmaynard, Yes I did replace the switch, but it did the same thing with the old switch. Thanks for the help.
wallfish 17,891 #5 Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) Here's how a battery ignition switch should be connected. A magnito ignition switch can ground the wire to the coil. Check your switch for the little letters next to the posts and not just the position of them on the switch Something seems funny since it's supplying 12v to the coil when starting. Maybe some more info on the type of engine and the new wiring could help figure out what is going on. Edited April 15, 2015 by wallfish
jgsmith16 0 #6 Posted April 15, 2015 I will take some pictures tonight and post them. Thank!
jgsmith16 0 #7 Posted April 15, 2015 Here are some picture. Another weird part is I have no power on the accessory terminal. Thanks again!

wallfish 17,891 #9 Posted April 16, 2015 Is that white wire from the A terminal of the switch going to the little post on the solenoid? If so, disconnect it. Only one small post on the solenoid will trigger it when 12v + is supplied. Make sure that small post is connected to the S of the switch. The other small post is not used at all. Where does that green wire to the B (battery) on the switch come from?
jgsmith16 0 #10 Posted April 16, 2015 John that did the trick. I had the green wire going to the ammeter. I would like to connect the ammeter and the cigarette light. Thanks again for the help!
wallfish 17,891 #11 Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) Nice! The meter can be connected in between the regulator and the switch. Never had one with the cig lighter so not totally sure if that should connect to the A terminamal or not. As a guess, that's where I would connect it. Did your wire diagram show where it might be connected? Probably not a bad idea to have a separate fuse inline for it no matter where it's connected.
