Going to buy two 300+ CCA batteries this year as my cycle times have my two biggest batteries ready to be switched out. I do have a new Tractor Supply Store that opened close by also. sorekiwi 761 #5 Posted April 12, 2015 I have 2 dead Napa batteries in my garage right now, both died after 2 years. I am not sure that there is a decent L&G battery out there, 2 years is about as good as I get, but others tell me they get 4 or 5 years out them. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Racinbob 11,888 #6 Posted April 15, 2015 In the decades I've been buying L&G batteries I really haven't found one that stands out. I've used Diehards, Interstates, Walmart whatevers, Duralast, and who knows what else. If I had to pick a favorite I would probably go with the Duralast but that's based more on their automotive batteries. Just a couple of weeks ago I replaced a Duralast that did manage almost 5 years and it was a measly 285 CCA but remember that I don't have to worry about cold weather starting. I went with another Duralast and because of sale pricing I went with 425 CCA this time. The biggest thing to stretch their lives is proper maintenance. Every spring I disconnect and clean the terminals even if they aren't showing any crud. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
shallowwatersailor 3,214 #7 Posted April 15, 2015 Since using Battery Tenders/Battery Minders on my batteries, it has increased their lifetime. I use to replace one or two a year. Since then, I haven't bought one in two years (knock on wood! ) The tractors that aren't used have the batteries pulled to sit on the bench connected to the tender/minder over winter. They get wired in parallel. The tractors that remain active have permanent leads to the batteries for the tender/minder or solar panel.. The two brands that I use are Battery Minder and Battery Tender. Both seem to do the job. What I don't recommend is the one by HF. I tried one three years ago and the battery went dead.
