forphase1 5 #1 Posted April 1, 2015 Morning all. I picked up a new toy last fall and wanted to show it off and ask a few questions. I think it's a 1989 520 HC, but I'm not 100% sure. I purchased it and the 60 inch mowing deck for $500. The engine had the dreaded valve seat issue, but I had a friend who swore we could fix it. Well, we finally got all the part in and what not and broke her down and put her back together, and that's where we have the issues. When you turn the key, nothing happens except the solenoid clicking. Now it can be started by jumping some of the contacts, and once started it purrs very nicely. I'm guessing we hooked up some wires wrong, but thought I could get some feedback here, as well as post some pictures to show her off. Plus, I've never seen tires like this before! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153200035509596.1073741825.721059595&type=1&l=e6785552fa

953 nut 59,896 #4 Posted April 1, 2015 Glad to hear you overcame the valve problems, good friends with tool and skills are wonderful. The tires are "ag tires" and are like the ones used on farm tractors. They should be OK for mowing a lawn but if they tare up the sod you may need to trade them in for "turf tires"
