TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #1 Posted March 28, 2015 Wow! Haven't done this in a while! Another save of an orphaned 'Horse from a local OPE shop. 1986 416-8 with 801 hours. Only known issues are a broken connecting rod and a few cannibalized parts. (coil & light switch) 48" deck appears to be in great condition other than the leading edge of the shell looks like it was used as a grader blade. Particulars weren't divulged, but I presume the owner didn't like the cost of repairs and traded it in on a running machine. They did tell me that the crankcase had very little oil upon arrival at the shop. No visible external damage or extra ventilation holes in the block, so I guess I'll open it up and assess the damage. Either way it's definitely worthy of repair. 12

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,041 #9 Posted March 28, 2015 TT, IMO that tractor is one of the very best set ups that wheelhorse made. A ton of torque out of that motor. I miss mine

rmaynard 14,922 #11 Posted March 29, 2015 Nice save Terry. I'm starting to like the look of the 300/400 series since I've been looking at the one in my garage that's been in pieces since November.
TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #12 Posted March 29, 2015 The "raccoon mask" tractors are definitely my favorite workers. Plenty of room, decent power, good looks, and the ever-popular parts & implement interchangeability. I prefer hydros but just couldn't pass this one up.

KC9KAS 4,741 #19 Posted March 30, 2015 TT, your 1986 must be an early one because it doesn't say TORO Wheel Horse.
TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #20 Posted March 31, 2015 TT, your 1986 must be an early one because it doesn't say TORO Wheel Horse. That started in 1990. 1989 was the last of the "maroon stripe" paint scheme.
