pfrederi 18,566 #1 Posted March 27, 2015 Had some issues over the winter with the Electro 12. The starter would spin but the pinion wouldn't engage. Took it off and cleaned it, left it dry, and it has continued to work well.. I had always been taught that you didn't lubricate starter pinon shafts. The Kohler manual specifies their lube to use on the shaft. My dealer just got a tube in for me. Kohler # 52 357 01-S From the tube " 1/4 oz of General Electric VERSILUBE G322L lubricating grease - based on a soap-thickened methyl alkyl silicone fluid." I don't feel like pulling the tarter again just to try ot out but will on the next machine that acts up.
