Racinbob 11,917 #26 Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks Fooz. I definitely see where that deck would be a problem at the left front. I'm going to do some research. I'm pretty sure you have the same gas tank I have. I'll also do some measuring. I really don't need a gauge in the cap but it would be a neat addition. Matching the threads might be an issue.
Ken B 3,189 #27 Posted March 30, 2015 Very nice 310 Matt. I guess all I can say is that the rest of us guys that liked the 3, 4 and 5 series tractors here in CT. had a good run! Now that they are growing on you the pickins might get a little slim for the rest of us! I'm pretty anal about my stuff being just right as well. I know you probably already have that muffler and starter repainted...
grnlark 489 #28 Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) Very nice 310 Matt. I think what appeals to me most is the overall condition. I'm pretty sure if it was just a worker with average hours on it, I'd have little to no interest. So you might still be in the clear as far as local competition. Funny you mention the muffler. So, the 310 muffler is totally smooth with no threaded tabs for a chrome shield. Now, thats no good. We need some bling. Lol. I'm actually making a trade with another RS member for an equally nice muffler that does have the tabs and then I'll order a brand new chrome heat shield from Toro. In transit, I have new rims and tires for all four corners from a 520 - the 8" fronts with spindles and 23x10.5s for the rear. I ordered a new gas cap, tail lights, the three decals for the lower dash plate where the shifter is (has some minor rust that needs to be blasted and re-sprayed) and on the hunt for a nice seat. Mine has two little cracks. Edited March 30, 2015 by grnlark

grnlark 489 #31 Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Thanks to Bearpath, I was able to get 23x10.5 rears on 520 rims and 8" wheels for the front with the shorter spindles. The rears cleaned up mint. They need a light scuff and some fresh paint which will happen before the weeks over. I wanted to test fit them though. So much better imo. I gave the fronts a blast and quick prime. Added a little cheese to knock out a few minor pitts too. Jason hooked me up with a sweet set of Carlisle turfs for the fronts too. Slowly but surely the 310 is coming along. stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #32 Posted April 2, 2015 Looking great. The fatties on the back give it the right look.
1978c81 385 #33 Posted April 2, 2015 I have a perfect condition low back seat I would consider selling. Only issue is its gonna need 4 nuts welded to the bottom. I purchased it with the four mounting tabs cut out.

Racinbob 11,917 #35 Posted April 2, 2015 Looks great Matt. The tires are perfect for it. I definitely prefer the 8" fronts.
stratostar250 934 #36 Posted April 3, 2015 I love those rears! Makes me wan't to find a pair for mine! But I'm pretty content with my All-Trail's When I put 8" fronts on my 310, it drives fine straight, but it turns tighter to the right than to the left. but, I have one original tie rod, and one adjustable, which I ordered because the other original kept falling out of the ball joint. That may be my problem. Let me know if this happens to you! That tractor is quite a looker though!
grnlark 489 #37 Posted April 3, 2015 And my apologies for failing to acknowledge Tom (stratostar250) in this tire quest. If it wasn't for Tom being the NY to CT courier from Bearpaths place, the 310 would probably still be seeking bigger shoes.

grnlark 489 #39 Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) Finished waxing the frame and transmission, got the wheels all painted and bolted on with the lower front spindles and installed my new muffler with the tabs for the heat shield. Hope to have it finished in the next week or so. Edited April 16, 2015 by grnlark
grnlark 489 #40 Posted April 16, 2015 This was the only thing on the entire tractor that had any sign of rust. Very odd. Thanks Terry for the great decals! Yeah, I know the parking brake decal is slightly off. Being as anal retentive as I am, it gives me a nervous tic every time I see it. Lol. Pisses me off.

grnlark 489 #47 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) By the way Matt, that is lookin pretty Bad To The Bone.. The chrome heat shield is going to really set it off. Well, it turns out that you can't get the chrome anymore. I actually called Toro direct. Only black. I'm assuming there's no chance I'll find a mint used one so I'll probably just buy the black one. I'll see how it looks. I think the black will look nice too. Otherwise, maybe Ill have it ceramic coated. Edited April 17, 2015 by grnlark
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #48 Posted April 17, 2015 I know it is killing him. I would be willing to guess he has already contacted Terry for replacement to the "crooked" replacement .... Keep your eye out for a chrome one....
