Advice on Rear LED Tail Lights

Recommended Posts

grnlark

Fogive me if this topic has already been beaten to death. I did do a search of past threads first and didn't find the info I was looking for.

I have a 310-8 with the rear reflectors. I want to swap them out for tail lights. In threads I did find, I agree the LED is probably the way I'd want to go (brightness, less amperage draw etc.). Can anyone suggest specific lights I might consider? I want to stay as original look as possible and something that will match the factory rivet holes if possible too. Suggestions? Pics?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Here what I have used. the $5 ones fit perfect.  Now they have a $8 tail light with more LED's.

Those are sweet too!

I already pulled the trigger on the eBay ones, but the beauty of these are the price. For the $11.00 I already spent, if I don't lke them, I'll throw them in the drawer of electrical junk for later use and buy these that you just posted. I appreciate the link!

My 310-8 has the 3 amp fixed charging system.  The head lights run an much higher voltage AC direct from the stator.  Be careful with your new LEDs do not wire them to the head lights if you 310-8 has the cheapie charging system. I am not sure the LEDs sold for vehicle markers will like the AC They may tolerate the higher voltage as some list 9-32v

All the lights I've found the holes don't line up. The reflectors are wider than the lights

I was already planning to probably wire them seperate to the battery with an in-line fuse and a switch independent of the headlights just to be safe. And as far as fit, I'm not modifying the tractor. I'm hopeful I can make new holes in the light housing to fit if necessary. The nice thing about the lights I bought is that they are cheap. If I can't modify them or if I wreck them I'll whip them in the garbage.

The lights are smaller than the reflectors. They aren't long enough to fully cover 1 hole from the reflector rivets

Matt,

Super Bright LEDS is a great company and carry great products. I've been dealing with them for a bunch of years now.

I bought the Superbrite LED lights cited above and installed them on my 314.  Yes, they do not cover the holes in the fender as mentioned by Squonk, but neither do the original OEM WH lights.  You do have to drill a hole in the fender for the electrical lead to exit as it does not line up with the OEM light lead exit.  To keep the wire from chafing on the new hole, I filled it from the backside with RTV,.  They work great-just do not look at them directly-you will be seeing spots!
