I've heard one model had small bolts on the differential that caused issues with the transfer case cracking/breaking. "D"- Man 827 #2 Posted March 23, 2015 1973 was the only year for the 18 Automatic. The 4 "D" series came 1974 and later: D-160 Kohler, D-160 Onan, D-180 and D-200. Back in the day there is literature to suggest they considered these the 600-Series. Later the 600-Series was used for the Zero-turn models. Here is when the differential bolts changed to 3/8" Garry I guess my question was/is: What differences were there in the three models within the 1973 model year, that required a change in model designation, and were there specific models that had issues or problems? Thanks Garry for the list of changes, I'm wondering if there were any more. So you are saying that models 1-0601, 1-0610, 1-0611, 1-0620, 1-0630, and 1-0650 D series tractors (even though the first model was a 18 automatic, it's listed as a D series in the Wheel Horse Model list) of 1973 AND 1974 had the smaller/weaker bolts in the differential? "D"- Man 827 #5 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) I think the 3 model designations had to do mostly with the rear wheel/tire size and tread design be it 12" vs 15" or be it turf vs ag/cleat.
