Wheel horse 212-6 Kawasaki engine does backfires with air filter ON

Recommended Posts

This morning i went to go start it up for some seat time then a bunch of mouse nest stuff came out of the exhaust. So i sprayed out the carb and all of the little holes. Started it again and it does the same thing, but when i take the air filter off with the cover it runs flawless and when i put it back on with the cover it sputters and backfires and no adjustment will fix it. Any help?

Thanks,

Dave

I think it might be the breather inside the engine, gotta take it apart and see if it's clean or has any cracks in it. If it has any cracks i have to buy a new one.

Sounds like the air filter is restricted. I know engine oil on the filter media will cause the condition you describe.

I found the problem, it was a lot of mouse nest stuff under the shroud
