Hitch travel distance?

Recommended Posts

ibskot

Anybody know the distance of travel for the clevis hitch....from the down position to the up position? I just moved the hitch system from one tractor to another and the travel seems minimal. The high isn't very high and the low isn't very low.

Thank you for your help.

Yes they don't lift very high.  I think don't think low needs to be much more then level.

I don't think up will clear the bumps in my yard on the way to the garden spot. I see videos of ones that go way up, but if I make it go way up, it won't come down enough.

Not familiar with these hitches but I wonder if they are lifting the attachment by hand and chaining it up (higher) for transport, then unchaining and letting the lift mechanism take over while its being worked :scratchead:  .

I'm not too familiar with it either but where the cable is connected to the bell crank would make a difference. Closer to the center pivot point will provide more power but less travel and the opposite the farther out towards the end it is attached.

Somewhere I read in an OM where you would need to modify older hitch with a lower hole in lift arm, thanks to Garry who supplied the sheet showing holes attached drawing:

Attached PDF is info where found modification, must be in manuals but can't relocare to thank original submitter.
