ibskot 37 #1 Posted March 19, 2015 Picked up this plow today in preparation for Saturday. This hitch mount is bent a bit. Can I still use it? Should I? I won't have a chance to try and fix it before Saturday and I really want to plow. Any thoughts are appreciated.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,538 #2 Posted March 19, 2015 From my understanding that is the way they were made so it is off to one side. At least that is what I was told on one of the older plows I have. I could be wrong.
C-101plowerpower 1,606 #3 Posted March 19, 2015 i don't think it should be like that, but i think it will work after some adjustment
squonk 43,888 #4 Posted March 19, 2015 The plow mount is supposed to be off set but that is bent. It won't track right.
oldredrider 2,553 #5 Posted March 20, 2015 Some heat from an acetylene torch and a vice can straighten that out and you're back in business.
ibskot 37 #6 Posted March 20, 2015 Thanks a lot. I am gonna phone a friend if I get back from ATL tomorrow. Thanks
squonk 43,888 #7 Posted March 20, 2015 The part with the three holes is supposed to have a twist in it so when the tractor is in the furrow the plow is level.
oldredrider 2,553 #8 Posted March 20, 2015 If you look closely at the top and bottom photo, the twist is there. It only needs to be straightened lengthwise.
new2horses 287 #9 Posted March 20, 2015 As oldredrider says the twist should be there bend no. It needs to be straightened.
Ed Kennell 42,093 #10 Posted March 20, 2015 Some of the bend could be compensated for by uneven tightening of the 1/2" anti sway bolts in the hitch. But this bend is too much and should be straightened. The twist in the plow tongue is to compensate for the tractor not being level when the right wheels are riding in the open furrow. KC9KAS 4,744 #15 Posted March 21, 2015 The slight twist is 15* if I remember correctly. I may be wrong on this.
