I need to replace the front tires my '91 Wheel Horse 520H. What do you recommend?

Thanks,

I think the answer depends on what you use the machine to do.  The tri ribs cited by Pete are great (as I have read) in the snow (and maybe dirt) to keep the tractor going where you want it.  They may not be so good as a turf tire.  If all you do is cut grass, a 2 ply turf tire will do fine.  If you put a loader on it, you will need a 4 or 6 ply front tires.  If you snow plow or snow blow, the tri tibs or Vredestein multi rib tires are a good choice.  No one tire fits all chores, that is why many of us have more than one tractor.  Just my opinion as well.

I'm going with Vredestein V61's.

They'll dig in an turn when needed without putting huge ruts in a soft yard like mine can get. But the tri-ribs will make the steering feel easier if that's important.

I went with a cheaper version of these that I got from Amazon I believe but I have 6" front rims. Either way I have only used them in snow so far but I have been very happy with them, much better turning with the blower down then the turfs I had on before plus I think they look really cool. They are wide and pretty flat across the tire so I don't expect them to be any different then the turfs for lawn mowing. 5 ribs will be my choice from here on out for buying new front tires
