localdj77 11 #1 Posted March 11, 2015 So I'm rebuilding my spindles and noticed that they are assembled incorrectly. It has cost me a spindle housing but Dave is helping out on that one. The question I have is this...the pulleys were installed differently. One a certain way and the other the opposite way. Which way is right? The diagram says offset side up but can someone clarify? gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,539 #2 Posted March 11, 2015 The last person to have it off likely did not notice the difference. I would do as the parts manual states. This may also apply to this deck Belt installation Garry
localdj77 11 #3 Posted March 11, 2015 thats the thing though. which is the offset side??? the taller side or the shorter side?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,539 #4 Posted March 11, 2015 I suspect there is more hub on one side than the other if there is any at all on the other side. In the end the spindle pulleys need to be the same elevation as the idler. Garry
localdj77 11 #5 Posted March 11, 2015 You are absolutely right but thats what I guess I will have to do......take a measurement vs the idler. Just was hoping someone knew for sure. Thanks
bmsgaffer 2,043 #6 Posted March 11, 2015 When it says hub offset up, my first thought is that the thicker side of the hub should be up on top.
localdj77 11 #7 Posted March 11, 2015 Could I maybe get a pick of someone elses hub and spindle? Maybe that would clear things up!??!?!
bmsgaffer 2,043 #8 Posted March 11, 2015 Not the biggest picture, but definitely looks like the hub is thick side up.
localdj77 11 #9 Posted March 11, 2015 lol.....from what I can see its the nut that makes it look that way. Ugh......I wish I could be sure. Once I get the other spindle rebuilt I'll just have to do my best to match height of the idler as mentioned before......oh well. Thanks for trying!
