seuadr 489 #1 Posted February 17, 2015 Hi, I’m torn here - I've got a 520H that is my worker… But I’d like to begin restoring her as well. So I though, why not try to pick up a non-runner with good body parts to restore and keep the worker working at the same time? so my question is this - looking at the various bodies.. it looks like a 516 will pretty closely match the sheet metal, and probably a 414 as well.. do all "H" models share sheet metal? Are the differences subtle or obvious? I don't plan on doing a showroom quality all original restoration; just want my girl to be a little prettier. Thanks in advance, Jared

Kegler 68 #3 Posted February 18, 2015 Seeing a lot of 520H parts on fleebay lately, Must be a popular unit to part out. On interchangeability, will a 520H belt guard fit a 417H?
zieg72 209 #4 Posted February 18, 2015 Hoods are different but everything else sheet metal wise is the same 300, 400 and 500 series I believe
ericj 1,579 #5 Posted February 18, 2015 there is a difference between twin cylinder and the single kohler belt guards eric j
JackC 617 #6 Posted February 18, 2015 88 and 89 520H left sides are different due to the different parking brake arrangement with that dumb little black knob they put on left side with a tiny roll pin on the newer models. Those do not always come off that easy to service that side of the tractor. Right side newer belt covers have an outward facing bolt for attaching the PTO guard. Glenn Pettit makes a replacement for that knob (lever) and he has done an excellent job. The secret is to insert the pin with pressure from a pair of pliers from below. That keeps the top side fresh to drive out with a roll pin punch, 3/32 if I remember correctly. Also replacing only with a stainless steel pin helps get it out the next time.
JackC 617 #8 Posted February 19, 2015 Cable, Thanks for the information. If I mess one up removing it at least there is a source for a new one.

seuadr 489 #10 Posted February 21, 2015 Thanks all. Sounds like my best bet it to try and find a roller 516 or 520.
