Wiring Harness Parts

While working on the 416-H, I discovered a few connectors that were either bad or broken. Most items I have been able to get from sources such as DelCity, Allied, and eBay, but this character is eluding me.

This is the housing for the connectors that attach to various micro switches. Does anyone know of a source where small quantities can be purchased?

Also, I am re-wiring the 416-H to be compliant with the "safety interlock" description in the manual. Has anyone else with a 1996 416-H noticed that the interlocks don't function as described, and that the wiring diagram and demystification guide are wrong?

I don't know where to get them, mines a 1994 and never noticed that they didn't function as described. What are you noticing?

Will start whether you are in the seat or not. Seat switch is working correctly and not bypassed.

To me is appears to be a problem with the PTO switch. There are two of them. One is correctly functioning to keep the starter from running when PTO is engaged. The other is simply a circuit that is attached to the seat relay and completely bypasses the seat switch.

I think mine will start while off the tractor too, but only if the brake is set. The seat switch will shut off the engine if the PTO is engaged and you lift off the seat.

Currently, mine will shut down if the PTO is engaged and I lift off the seat, but it is that PTO switch circuit that also allows the engine to be started when the seat is unoccupied. Also, if someone falls from the seat while driving without the PTO engaged, the tractor will keep running.

Setting the brake only assures that the neutral safety switch is "open" locking out the start circuit. The parking brake switch function is only to turn the indicator light on or off.

Very possible on both points (it's currently snowed in so I can't check).  From what I have found, the seat switch will only

1. Set the light on the dash

2. Stop the machine when the PTO is engaged

Been that way for ever on mine.

How are your points and condenser working that they show in that drawing?

May be the same cover as used on the 1997 520-H model 73521.

Toro part # 111498 and show as still available.

Condenser works fine. No points just sensor. Not sure what they were thinking when they drew that diagram.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I think you do have the same connector shell as on the 520 tractors. This photo is of one on a harness that I have on my bench now. I would be interested to know if contacts come with the Toro part. Please keep us informed on your progress. SwitchConnector_zpsvt6gzgcb.jpg

I have been unable to find anyone other than Toro who will sell me less than 250 of them.

I have continued the Safety Interlock situation in a separate thread.

Who is offering the 250 and what is their part number?  Do we know anything about the contracts?

Bruce,

The company is TLC Electronics. The part number is 3V-187. They have a $40.00 minimum order. That will buy you about 270 of them.

The 73501 shows it using 4 of the 111498 insulators.

The fuel tank sending unit has one. Don't know where the 4th is.

I must say the illustrators had an incredible eye for detail.

I have never seen one used on the fuel sender but the 4 are:

1) Parking brake

2) neutral switch

3) seat switch

4) PTO switch bottom switch

5) PTO switch top switch

Actually 5 not 4.

All depends on the model. My 73423 originally had them on:

Upper PTO switch

Lower PTO switch

Neutral switch

Parking brake switch

Funny how from one model to the next, Toro neglected to add the part numbers for those items.
