KevinG 5 #1 Posted February 9, 2015 Hey guys, I was thinking about buying a local wheel horse, it's the gt 60th edition. One of the main reasons for buying it was because it's got a 56 inch cutting deck (my craftsmans only got a 42 for 3 acres right now and it's starting to go). Anyway it's only got 15hp and I was just wondering if that's enouph to power a 56 inch mowing deck
muz123 1,192 #2 Posted February 9, 2015 Yes thats enough power, also i think you might be talking about a 315-H with a 48inch deck
Forest Road 594 #3 Posted February 9, 2015 If that's the one w a tiller and blower it's a good deal. It's probably a 48" deck. Never heard of a 56" WH deck. That machine will run circles around your craftsman and last 30 years.
Racinbob 11,919 #4 Posted February 9, 2015 Yea, that's plenty of power. I used two 48" decks to mow with. One on a 16hp and the other on a 11hp Briggs (GT1100). That 11 did a fine job.
KevinG 5 #5 Posted February 9, 2015 thanks muz123. and oh ok, I'm still trying to learn all the different models. It's got "classic gt" on the side and the hood it says 60th year anniversary edition
Forest Road 594 #6 Posted February 9, 2015 That should be a 315-8 kohler command singlr 15hp 8 speed. 2007 was the last year
KevinG 5 #7 Posted February 9, 2015 Ok thanks. Would you say they are any good? Just asking cause I would Assume they must have stopped making them for a reason
KevinG 5 #8 Posted February 9, 2015 Nvm about the last post... just found a good thread on them. Thanks for the help
Forest Road 594 #9 Posted February 9, 2015 It's basically the same machine WH sold for 40 years. Toro ceased all garden tractor production in 2007.
Racinbob 11,919 #10 Posted February 9, 2015 Ok thanks. Would you say they are any good? Just asking cause I would Assume they must have stopped making them for a reason if you're referring to the tractors you can't do better than a Wheel Horse. I believe one of the major reasons they stopped making them is the cost. If you're referring to the Command motors they are excellent. I have one and have zero complaints. Kohler even rates them for more hours but I kinda doubt that. I'm old school and the K series rule in my book.
