stevebo-(Moderator) 8,041 #2 Posted January 26, 2015 The best set up out there which is a 520 with a 44' dual stager
misonido 5 #3 Posted January 26, 2015 +1 w/ 520 H snow cab and 44" dual stage.... actually tempted to just stay inside for the whole storm and see if it can handle it all, BUT I know the "kid at heart" in me doesn't want to miss out on any seat time.
fireman 1,021 #4 Posted January 26, 2015 We'll you asked so don't blame me! I'll be using my John Deere 317 with cab and snow blower. 180 pounds of wheel weights and chains. Also have about 180 pounds of suitcase weights on the 3 point in the back. I know it's not a WH but it's never failed me yet! Also have an older Toro 624 walk behind snow blower as back up that's works great.
Ken B 3,116 #5 Posted January 26, 2015 I will be using my recently "traded" for 314H. I used it the other day in the 8 inch storm we got and it did pretty good. (yes I do have chains on it.) The only thing I don't like is the location of the DCL. I hate that. If it sticks around long enough Matt's foot control kit is a MUST. Backing up the 314 is a Toro 7/24 walk behind that I picked up a few yrs. ago at a swap meet for 75 bucks. Its the best 75 bucks I've ever spent!

Challenger 27 #7 Posted January 26, 2015 Watching the Blizzard forecast for New England I thought of Rick_in_CT having sold his fine 522xi / Two-Stage snow fighting package last week. Rick will your remaining 5xi with the snow blade be your primary weapon for this big storm? Or have you already purchased the new equipment?
Ed Kennell 35,880 #8 Posted January 26, 2015 If it's warm and calm...The Yammy w/WH plow is a lot of fun. Cold and windy....I'll be in the 520 heated cab. The other two are back-up.

Ken B 3,116 #10 Posted January 26, 2015 We gonna see some more video's Craig? If those two can't get the job done you better get the little guy in the back ground to show them how its done!

AMC RULES 36,945 #12 Posted January 26, 2015 We gonna see some more video's Craig? If those two can't get the job done you better get the little guy in the back ground to show them how its done! I'm definitely gonna try to make that happen Ken... they're sayin' now, depending on conditions...we may not be allowed to go home after our work shift ends. It's always a challenge for me to beat the wife to the snow too...usually she has it done by the time I get home. She might have her work cut our for her with this one though...30+ inches would be quite the workout, doing it by hand.
Coadster32 793 #13 Posted January 26, 2015 854 with plow. I'll try to keep up with it about every 6inches or so. Work is cancelled tomorrow and with work Saturday to make it up. Here's a quick video of it handling 13inches a few years ago. http://vid400.photobucket.com/albums/pp82/Coadster32/pics053.mp4
Forest Road 594 #14 Posted January 26, 2015 Wish I'd thought of running upstate for the 314H & 2 stage combo. Just not enough hours in a day. Good ole Ariens 928 never fails!
fireman 1,021 #15 Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) how about a pic of that setup. Sounds good. My nj comment. Will be using the 520 single stage tall chute. Glenn This is the best I have at the moment. The cab I just got mounted a month or two ago. Haven't really taken any pictures of it in the current configuration but here are pictures of the parts and pieces on there own. Don't have a picture of the monster wheel weights. Got to love the real hydraulic 4 way plow! The snow blower has it's own hydraulic piston to do the lifting. I'm gonna add a hydraulic motor for the chute rotation. AMC RULES 36,945 #16 Posted January 26, 2015 Imagine that bad boy set up with the plow in the front... and the blower off the back...best of both worlds right there. LOL...If only it was red instead.
JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,487 #17 Posted January 26, 2015 Fireman, nice pics, thank you. The deere is similar to a Bolens. Only the JD has way more parts available. IMHO Glenn

Rick_in_CT 156 #23 Posted January 26, 2015 Well I just sold my 522xi with the two stage blower on it, but its replacement is ready to go. I just finished adding the linear actuator to the chute deflector, and I used a power window motor to rotate the chute. I have a front blade and bucket loader for the Kubota as well. I still have a 522xi for sale with a blade on it that will probably get some exercise too. Rick
