gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,500 #2 Posted January 11, 2015 1984 tiller parts list If a part is still available from Toro it will be priced at sites like this http://www.partstree.com/parts/ Transmission gear oil is type GL5 and very common. Try to find one that states it is safe for yellow metals like brass and bronze. The oil weight will be 85-90 or something close to that is OK. Garry
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,500 #3 Posted January 11, 2015 Here is an older tiller operator manual - Lube is on the last page. Garry
Forest Road 594 #4 Posted January 13, 2015 Never went nuts looking for a specific gear lube. Just a standard gear lube 75-90w. Essentially whichever is readily available for standard trans at your local auto parts stores. These transmissions barely get warm on the 100 degree days pulling plows all day. doc724 925 #5 Posted January 13, 2015 If the tiller is leaking at the case half seam, there are two options. 1. put it back together with Permatex blue sealer and no gasket. We have always referred to this stuff as blue goop. 2. Look up the parts list for the newer tillers. There is a gasket there and I think (I am hoping since I bought one to repair my tiller in the spring) that it is an exact drop in for the older gaskets. boovuc 1,090 #6 Posted January 14, 2015 As much as those tillers vibrate and rattle, just check to make sure the case bolts are tight!
