Irv 115 #1 Posted January 8, 2015 I'm trying to find out if a starter from a 91 312-8 (model 31-12k802) will fit a 96 312-8 (model 73363),. Everywhere I,ve looked shows different part #s but they look the same. Anyone know for sure? thanks
skrusins 128 #2 Posted January 9, 2015 Get the model number and spec number off the shroud of the motor. Hopefully it will give you the correct starter part number.

boovuc 1,090 #4 Posted January 9, 2015 Purely just throwing this out there but a 1991 312 would have come with a Kohler Magnum. The 1996 would have come with a Kohler Command I believe so it's doubtful they are the same. The mounting would be different right off the bat. Again......just thinking quickly about this and not looking it up!
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,710 #5 Posted January 9, 2015 I don't think the CH was used until 1998 1991 312-8 model 31-12K802 used Kohler M12S-471527 1996 312-8 model 73362 used Kohler M12S-471527 1996 312-8 model 73363 used Kohler M12S-471527 - Gold trim 50th anniversary model Without looking it should be the same starter because the spec numbers are the same. Perhaps the 1991 part number was superseded by 1996 resulting in a new part number. Garry
boovuc 1,090 #6 Posted January 10, 2015 Your correct, Garry. Both years are Magnums. (See why I posted the disclaimer) In that event, I don't know why they would be different.
