snowmoboyle 33 #1 Posted January 4, 2015 Lights worked a few weeks ago - today hit the light switch and it killed the gauges, no lights. Pulled two fuses I found, both good, replaced, gauges worked, hit switch they stopped working again..... Any ideas? I didn't dig too deep, ran out of daylight! cheesegrader 433 #2 Posted January 4, 2015 Debris in the fuse block connections, or faulty wiring into the fuse block. I've had to replace two blocks on 520's for similar intermittent problems. No issues since going to sealed individual automotive fuse holders.

No issues since going to sealed individual automotive fuse holders. I can get a pic, but it appears these are already the individual auto fuses - the blade type. 1989 model year - ohhhh good ol electrical issues are always fun hah! 3-6 falling tonight, as long as it starts and blows snow tomorrow I'll be content
shallowwatersailor 3,214 #4 Posted January 14, 2015 The 1989 520-H does have individual fuse holders. From 1990 on, Toro used the problematic 4-place fuse block. I know as I have/had both. It may be a chafed wire or just high resistance because of corrosion. Strangely enough though, the same fuse block as the 1990 is used on the 5xi models without a problem. It is mounted vertically though.
Geno 1,929 #5 Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) More than likely a bad connection, it can't handle the amp draw. Start by chasing the hot feed to that fuse. Don't forget the ever problematic white 9 pin connector on that one... Edited January 14, 2015 by Geno

Thanks guys - I'll look into it this weekend when it's going to be 35 out or so. -24 the other morning and days were not motivating to worry about it! Haven't had any significant snowfall this year, so pumped to use this beast but have been able to shovel it all!!
