Jake Kuhn 1,579 #1 Posted January 3, 2015 HI all, Ended up dragging home another 35 today, believe it to be a 55. You guys may of seen this tractor in the classifieds Its actually pretty nice and straight other than some rigging. It needs the drive system put back to original and the right motor, but that won't be too hard. This has been repainted, but it doesn't look to bad, I plan to just clean it up and get it back to stock. The steering wheel is in good shape with no cracks/welds and the gas tank doesn't leak. Hubs are both the cast-non turned down kit so this tractor never had brakes on it. All the original tires are in pretty good shape too, without much weather checking. This also came with a rear plow but I don't have pictures of it. The cool thing is I had already made a deal on it, and when I went to pick it up, I noticed it had the noseweight in it.

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #7 Posted January 3, 2015 Very nice Jake. As you know that front nose weight will make a huge difference. You may even be able to turn it while driving up a slight incline

953 nut 59,876 #13 Posted January 3, 2015 Wonderful find! With the Briggs on it I would have expected it to be a RJ-25 rather than a 35.
new2horses 287 #14 Posted January 3, 2015 Jake, Good for you, if I had been faster I suppose the border police would have been after me because that's one I would have positively made the trip to bring back South. Happy for you, David

fireman 1,022 #17 Posted January 3, 2015 Get a hold of Clay (RJ35hunter) here. Try to confirm if that's a RJ25. They came with a Briggs 2.5hp. Is that what that Briggs in there is? That is either a 55 or an early 56. VINsRJ might be able to help you out too. I have not seen to many actual RJ25s so if that's the real deal then you really scored big time! Nice either way! Jake Kuhn 1,579 #18 Posted January 3, 2015 Thanks all, and jeff, when I first saw this for sale I thought it may of been a 25, but its definititely not one. It has a briggs model 6, the 25 had a model 8. I was also told the engine was replaced years ago, otherwise the 25 would have had the big hole in the hood for pushing the spark plug clip, and no hole/tank in the rear. This one is just a regular later 55 that should have a clinton 1200. I plan to put a A1200 on it for now, and maybe I'll find a correct engine someday.

Jake Kuhn 1,579 #21 Posted January 3, 2015 Well I tore it part way apart today, I yanked the hubs and found them to be in really good shape, and the original paul setup was still there, however I noticed on the pto side, the little dimples that catch the spring in the drive system are pointing out like on a 57, so it looks like it only ever had 1 wheel drive, I doubt this it how it should be? But otherwise, I yanked the rigging of the drive system off, and the engine and started cleaning it up, its actually a lot nicer than I expected under the grease and looks to be original. I'm going to get it as good as I can now with just rags and brake clean, and in the spring or summer I'll rip it mostly apart and wash it good with our pressure washer. I would take the hood off now, but its not going to be easy with that weight in there, so I'll save that for another day. Anyways, here's some pictures of how its starting to look, and how dirty my floor is getting And here's the enging I'm going to use, I just have to change the governor setup on it to be correct And the plow

Jake Kuhn 1,579 #24 Posted January 3, 2015 Got it complete enough to go out for a ride, seems to drive good and work as it should and I didn't even have to adjust the system. Just going to run a throttle cable, exaust, and add a kill switch and will call it done until I can give it a good wash in the spring, also plan to repaint the rims then, and add some new decals. Gonna cut off the angle iron from the front axle too, and the extra guide on the belt guard.
